Fueled is an intentionally distributed, global team spanning 35+ countries and 6 continents. This geographic diversity empowers us with a broad range of perspectives and ideas. By fostering a diverse workforce spanning cultures, ethnicities, neurodiversities, and genders, we bring together a group of individuals with unique experiences, backgrounds, and perspectives. This not only enriches our work, but also helps to better understand and connect with our clients and their audiences.

In Principle

As a globally distributed company in technology, Fueled seeks to recognize the contributions of underrepresented groups and raise awareness of equity issues on a global scale. We believe that diversity, equity, and inclusion (“DEI”) are essential for our success as a company; we are committed to creating an environment where all team members feel respected, valued, and supported.  We recognize that everyone has different needs, and we strive to create an environment that is accessible, inclusive, and responsive to those needs.  We are committed to creating a culture where everyone feels comfortable bringing their whole selves to work; where everyone is empowered to speak up and share their ideas.

In Practice

To promote diversity, equity, and inclusion with Fueled, we sponsor internal initiatives that empower and support unique perspectives and identities.

Council

Fueled’s DEI Council is dedicated to identifying and addressing opportunities related to diversity, equity, and inclusion within the company. The DEI council recommends policies, supports initiatives, and creates programs that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion. It also provides training and education to the company’s managers and leaders.

To educate team members and celebrate diversity, the DEI Council highlights heritage months with internal blog posts – sharing stories of historically important figures, notable non-profits, and background on the cultural significance of heritage months.

Employee Resource Groups

Fueled’s Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) are employee-led groups formed around common interests, common bonds, or similar backgrounds. ERGs create an open forum for colleagues to support one another. ERGs exist as private Slack channels for BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, Neurodivergent, and Women. Public companion channels for allies help support and champion these perspectives.

Giving Back

We believe that an open and collaborative Internet – coupled with the democratization of publishing – has driven a remarkable web renaissance.  Our company embraces openness in this spirit, prioritizing the development and support of open-source platforms and tools to advance and enrich the digital community. Fueled donates hundreds of thousands of dollars annually by way of code contributions, sponsorships, and community organizing, our own projects, and sharing our expertise within the WordPress ecosystem to give back to the ecosystem on which our company was built.

Our team is committed to contributing to organizations whose own missions resonate with our commitment to giving back to make the web economy and community a better place, now and in the future. In the past, we contributed to Girls Who Code and All Star Code – two organizations committed to advancing diversity in digital engineering – and Trees for the Future, who help to offset the carbon footprint that our computing generates.
